Whitney CA seniors Austin Vasquez and Ethan Dodge took the top two spots in the Division 2 boys 3-mile race in 16:30.2 and 16:30.7 at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Subsection meet at Calaveras County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp. Vasquez and Dodge led five scorers in the top 50 to help the Wildcats prevail with 109 points. They are looking to help Whitney repeat as Division 2 champions Nov. 16 at the section final at the Willow Hills Course in Folsom, in addition to trying to become the first individual section champion for the Wildcats.
